With large beauty brands like Sephora and Neutrogena introducing lines of natural skincare, you have probably noticed the rise of the natural skincare movement. Amidst many brands switching to naturally sourced ingredients and new brands popping up with a focus on clean, organic products, you may be wondering what this whole new wave of skincare means for your own beauty regimen. Do I need to throw out everything I have? Which brands are actually good for my skin? Here at Gift and Box we found ourselves asking the same questions about what the right thing to do is with so many brands claiming their natural skincare products are superior to the rest. What we found that the first step, and most important step, is to be more conscious of the products you buy. Below we outline the three most important things to keep in mind if you want to use natural products but don’t know where to begin.

1. Know what you are looking for
“Natural skincare” is a term that describes products that are naturally derived. Plant oils, natural vitamins, plant extracts, and food ingredients are the main things that natural skincare products are composed of. Natural skincare products harness the regenerative properties of plant-based ingredients that have proven to be healthy and safe on our skin. Thus, using a plant-based product that naturally heals and supports healthy and moisturized skin is the goal. Nature has a lot to offer when it comes to boosting our skins long term elasticity and health. The micronutrients found in plant oils, for example, are the purist way to nourish our skin. Switching to natural products means you are eliminating the question of whether the ingredients are going to have negative long-term impacts. Instead, you can trust that the natural and scientifically proven plant ingredients will be safe on your skin for years to come.
2. Look at the labels and start small
Being conscious about what your put on your face, body, and in your hair starts with questioning what is in the products you already use. Start small and look at the ingredients of the products you use daily. Some of your everyday products may be completely healthy. Therefore, it’s worth picking out the items that have harmful ingredients and subbing natural products in. This process doesn’t have the break the bank and remember that changes in your skincare regimen take time for your skin to adjust to. Also, you don’t have to settle for less when it comes to natural beauty products like mascara and blush. There are many brands that you know and love introducing improved natural formulas!
